About us

Lives Told was created by Jinny and Colin Jackson. We are trained listeners and have both worked in the heritage, creative and communications sectors for many years.

Lives Told is a personal story in itself. We are fascinated by our family histories and the remarkable people who have shaped our lives. We wanted to explore our ancestry, but, as is often the case, all that remained were official documents like birth, marriage, and death certificates as well as census records.

We sat down with our parents and recorded the conversations we had with them. What was created was a captivating family history record that has become a cherished part of our family’s life and often referenced by our children.

Because we recorded the conversations the joy is in hearing and seeing family members - some of whom are sadly no longer with us. Their memories live on.

We wanted this service to be made available to others. It’s our passion that drives us to record remarkable lives in a faithful and professional way.
